LIFE SKETCH OF MR. SHIRISH AGGARWAL

Mr. Shirish Aggarwal, Advocate, represents the youth and commands the confidence of a sizeable proportion of the Indian Bar. He is a Director of International Council of Jurists which has its headquarters in London. He has been elected as the General Secretary of the All India Bar Association. He is also the Editor-in-chief of www.indlii.org (Official website of India Legal Information Institute- first free legal information portal of India).

Mr. Aggarwal is a Partner in Chandra & Partners, a reputed law firm established in the year 1969. He specializes in transactional business, drafting various kinds of agreements, arbitration matters, company law, real estate, damages, taxation including customs, excise and income tax, banking and finance, foreign investments, insurance, intellectual property law including patent, trademarks and copyrights, and foreign investment.

He is also a promoter of India Law Outsourcing Private Limited Company, a legal process outsourcing company in India with a proven track record of being one of the fastest growing outsourcing companies.

Mr. Aggarwal is not only a dynamic and vibrant lawyer, but also an active social worker. He has also been instrumental in various socio-legal projects like the legal aid, legal awareness campaigns, right to speedy trial of prisoners, “Right to Food Campaign”, Literacy Mission Programmes and related community activities for slum dwellers and underprivileged members of the society. He has closely worked with Non-Governmental Organizations in achieving the said objectives.

He is also involved with the issue of liberalization of the Indian Legal Sector to meet global competition by attaining international standards of legal services offered in the country. Mr. Aggarwal is actively engaged in deliberations in this respect in India and abroad.

Besides writing several articles and presenting papers, Mr. Aggarwal has taken part in a number of seminars, conferences and workshops on legal and economic issues, matters relating to securities markets and other issues of concern. His book on Ethical Considerations While Outsourcing is likely to be released by the end of year 2010.

Mr. Aggarwal has obtained education and training from prestigious institutions like St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, Indian Law Institute, Mathematical Sciences Foundation and St. Columba’s School, Delhi. As a student, he participated and won a number of quizzes and moot court competitions. Besides acing in academic and co-curricular activities, he took keen interest in sports and had been captain of the State and University aquatic teams.
